According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, no otherwise qualified person with a disability shall be denied a benefit or opportunity or be excluded from participation solely on the basis of that disability. The Center for Student Accessibility (CSA) ensures that students with disabilities have equal access to all campus facilities, curricula, and activities by facilitating reasonable disability-related accommodations.

Reasonable accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis through an interactive process between the student, the CSA, and faculty. Documentation of disability is required, and the CSA will review this documentation to determine appropriate accommodations. Students should submit their accommodation requests as early as possible to allow time for this process.

Students are responsible for notifying their professors of their approved accommodations via accommodation letters distributed by the CSA each semester. Faculty can also check the CUNY Accommodate system to see which students in their course have approved accommodations. When reviewing the student roster in Accommodate, do not assume that a lack of information indicates no students with accommodations.

If you have concerns about a student's approved accommodations, please contact the CSA to discuss your concerns. The CSA can work with you to explore alternative approaches and ensure that students have access to appropriate support. Accommodations are made based on documentation and are designed to ensure equal access to education.

The testing module in CUNY Accommodate will not be used to schedule exams at the CSA for Spring 2025. If a student in your course has approved testing accommodations, complete the Spring 2025 CSA Testing Arrangement Form and note the following:

• Students should complete the form with their professor and submit it to the CSA at least three business days before the exam date. To request the CSA Testing Arrangement Form, email accessibility@citytech.cuny.edu.
• Students are responsible for submitting completed testing forms either in person or via email to the CSA's Testing Coordinator, Jade Warrington at jade.warrington85@citytech.cuny.edu and copy accessibility@citytech.cuny.edu in all communications.
• Incomplete forms will not be accepted by the CSA.

Please note: All student examinations are retained only until the end of the semester. After final grades are finalized, exams are securely shredded. Faculty are responsible for retaining any exams needed for future reference prior to this time.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles can help create more inclusive classrooms that benefit all students. Consider providing multiple means of representation, action/expression, and engagement. Use clear course syllabi, varied teaching methods, accessible materials, and flexible deadlines when possible. The CSA and AtoL can provide resources and support for implementing UDL in your courses.
