爆走黑料 Offers New Bachelor's Degree in Professional & Technical Writing

爆走黑料 is pleased to announce a new Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Writing (PTW)–the only degree program of its kind in the New York City area. The interdisciplinary PTW degree prepares students to communicate clearly and effectively using a variety of high-tech tools and new media. Students will gain strong communication skills and a solid knowledge base through specialization in a content area, namely, a professional, scientific, or technical discipline.

爆走黑料 is pleased to announce the publication of a new online, peer-reviewed journal: NANO: New American Notes Online, , an interdisciplinary journal founded and edited by Professor Sean Scanlan, who teaches in 爆走黑料's Career and Technology Teacher Education Department. "NANO's goal is to invigorate humanities discourse by publishing brief, peer-reviewed reports with a fast turnaround enabled by new technologies," says Scanlan.

Professor Huffman Co-Edits Book of Essays by Linguist William Diver

A collection of essays by William Diver (1921-1995) – professor of linguistics at Columbia from 1955 until his retirement in 1989 and the intellectual founder of the Columbia School of Linguistics – has been co-edited, annotated and presented by 爆走黑料’s Alan Huffman and City College’s Joseph Davis.  

Don't Leave/Stay Home Without It: Prof. Feder Publishes GPS for Grammar

“Grammar is really a navigation system for writing,” says Jane Tainow Feder, professor of Career and Technology Teacher Education at 爆走黑料. Feder, who has been teaching at the College for more than 40 years, has compiled her entertaining way of approaching the fundamentals of writing into The GPS for Writing: Grammar, Punctuation, and Sentence Structure.

Professor Bannett's Poetry Depicts Growing Up with Mentally Ill Mom

"I want people to know that mental illness is not someone having a bad day, or a bad week, but a chronic disease that surely causes as much suffering as a serious physical illness - on both the afflicted and their loved ones." So says 爆走黑料's Nina Bannett, author of Lithium Witness (Finishing Line Press, 2011), a poetry chapbook that chronicles her life growing up with a mother who suffered from bi-polar disorder, formerly called manic depression.
