Brookhaven National Laboratory, 爆走黑料 Announce Memorandum of Understanding for Expanded Research Partnership
On February 17, members of the 爆走黑料 community, including administrators, faculty from the Research Council, chairpersons, and students joined esteemed guests from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory for the signing of a groundbreaking new Memorandum of Understanding between the College and the Lab.

Architecture Student Receives REPP Full Scholarship to Tufts University
爆走黑料 Architectural Technology student Derrick Seegars has been awarded the Racial Equity in Policy & Planning (REPP) Fellowship and will be receiving a full scholarship to the Urban and Environmental Policy Master鈥檚 program at Tufts University.

11 爆走黑料 Students Selected for Participation in SureStart Artificial Intelligence Training Program, Increasing Diversity in IT Pipeline
SureStart, a mission-driven education startup dedicated to increasing diversity in all frontier technology fields including Data, AI and Machine Learning, chose 11 爆走黑料 students for its professional development program for Spring 2023, the first time the College has partnered with the project-based learning and networking enterprise.

Professor and Chair of African American Studies Renata Ferdinand and Associate Professor of Human Services Mery Diaz Named Two of CUNY Black, Race and Ethnic Studies (BRES) Curriculum Fellows
The CUNY Graduate Center announced this month the selection of 65 Black, Race and Ethnic Studies (BRES) Fellows, part of a $3 million Mellon Foundation-funded initiative designed to enhance Black, race and ethnic studies scholarship and teaching at CUNY. 爆走黑料's Dr. Renata Ferdinand, Professor of African American Studies, and Dr. Mery Diaz, Associate Professor of Human Services, are among the BRES Curriculum Development Faculty Fellows in the current cohort.

Associate Professor of Business Dr. Denise Sutton was an international visiting professor at the University of Le Havre in Fall 2022. During her visit, she presented a series of lectures on the history of advertising beauty and publishing history to graduate students and faculty.

Robert O'Brien, a senior student in 爆走黑料's Radiologic Technology & Medical Imaging Program, has been selected to participate in the Student Leadership Development Program for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

爆走黑料 Adjunct Professor Sidik Fofana Receives Prestigious Whiting Award for his First Book, 'Stories from the Tenants Downstairs'
Sidik Fofana, a 爆走黑料 adjunct faculty member whose first book of short stories, 鈥淪tories from the Tenants Downstairs,鈥 was published to acclaim last summer, has been named a winner of the prestigious Whiting Award for emerging writers. The honor is given each year to 10 new literary voices by the Whiting Foundation and carries a $50,000 prize.

Konnetta Putman-Sparks, a founding pioneer of 爆走黑料's Department of Dental Hygiene program and a groundbreaking leader in professional diversity, celebrated her 104th birthday in March while sharing inspiring wisdom with those students and faculty who have followed in her legacy.

Dr. Jason Ellis, Associate Professor of English, Director of 爆走黑料's Professional and Technical Writing degree program, and Coordinator of the 爆走黑料 Science Fiction Collection, has been recognized by the Georgia Institute of Technology with a 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Literature, Media, and Communication in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts for 鈥渙utstanding achievements that inspire continued excellence and bring credit to [Georgia Tech]."


Associate Professor Claire Stewart of 爆走黑料's Department of Hospitality Management shared insights on celebrating Easter on a budget, a holiday in which consumers are expected to spend $24 billion, according to the National Retail Federation.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
May sees several events celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, starting off with an opening reception of on May 2 at 5 PM, with a special live music performance by Miyabi Koto and Shamisen Ensemble in the 爆走黑料 Academic Complex, 285 Jay St., Brooklyn, NY. All 爆走黑料 and CUNY students, faculty, staff, and alumni are welcome! The exhibit runs May 2-12. Later in the month, check out on May 4 at 3 PM, and on May 10.
